Gold Coast Sand Bypass

PROJECT OVERVIEW

RB Industrial Services is proud to be playing a key role in the Gold Coast Sand Bypass Project, awarded in late 2024.

Campaign 1 of the project has focused on the design and delivery of both onshore and offshore scaffolding solutions, enabling safe and encapsulated access for critical blast and paint works across key marine and foreshore infrastructure.

The works demanded precision execution, with strict environmental and public safety compliance, in a high-profile location facing variable weather conditions and logistical complexity.

Notable Details

Scope: Surface treatment of steel structural components requiring full encapsulated access on both land and water-based assets.
Start Dates: Onshore works began in January 2026, with offshore works commencing shortly after in the same month.
Environmentally Sensitive Zones: Careful planning was required to protect the surrounding marine and public spaces.
Product Innovation:
- Use of At-Pac Scaffold System with the latest MPBS (Multi-Purpose Beam System).
- Provided open, uninterrupted decks to increase productivity and safety.
- Reduced anchoring minimized structural impact and accelerated installation/removal.
Collaborations: RB Industrial worked alongside Aqua Blast, Alders Constructions, and the Gold Coast Waterways Authority to ensure sequencing alignment and environmental compliance.
Challenges Overcome:
- Managed public interface on the busy waterfront.
- Navigated delays from Cyclone Alfred and excessive rainfall with adaptive access solutions.
